Dear ABC,

I hope you are hale and hearty. The year would be incomplete if I didn’t write to you. Therefore, I decided to scribble a few words about my recent travel to Darjeeling in West Bengal.

Father had already booked plane tickets as well as accommodation three months earlier. We checked in The Rope Resort on 19^th November for a week long stay. I found our stay in the hotel to be quite homely with very good food in the offering.

We were spoilt for choices for spending the week there. The first outing was in the Teesta River for river rafting which was a thrilling experience for me. We had a wonderful time sightseeing the natural beauty in the famous Toy trains of Darjeeling. We started from Ghoom and got down in Kurseong, tasting the delicious food at various foot stalls along the way.

My father being a nature enthusiast enjoyed the morning sunrise in the Tiger Hills a lot. The view of the snow capped Kanchenjunga, with the morning light descending on it, is really a spectacular one. No tour to Darjeeling would be complete without exploring its beautiful tea gardens. The tea gardens of Darjeeling produce some of the finest qualities of tea in the world.

Another great attraction was the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang monastery in the town of Kalimpong. It was very peaceful there and it holds a great religious significance for the Buddhist people. As far as food is concerned, I got to taste some of the most delicious Thukpas and momos I have ever had in my life. The stroll on the Mall road or Chowrasta was particularly pleasant in the evening when we went for shopping. Overall, the trip to Darjeeling was a really memorable one.
