Dear ABC,
I hope you are in the best of health. Taking time out from the daily rush of life, today I have decided write to you about a memorable day in my life.
It was an usual evening on the 5th of April when all of a sudden, a storm broke out over the city. Almost immediately, the electricity went out in our area. Our effort to call the electricity office went in vain as the telephone lines were also jammed. In our modern life, we have gone so used to availability of electricity. But that day, due to power cut, there was neither any television show nor any video games. Moreover, it was too late for the children to play in the park too. As our locality plunged in darkness, the neighborhood people came out from their respective houses.
In order to pass time, the elders began to start conversation among them relating their childhood escapades. There were jokes and laughter all around. It was quite entertaining to listen to them and see them behave like that. Many of the families also shared potluck. The old style cots were also set up on the terraces or balconies. In their conversation and interaction, it seemed people had forgotten about the discomfort of no electricity.
Standing on my terrace under the stars at night, I stared at the surrounding and wondered what if such storms broke out regularly so that people would communicate more and enjoy each other’s company. That evening of 5th April will be etched in my memories for ever.
