Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper regarding polluted water supply in your locality
Dear Editor,
I, (your name), am a resident of XYZ colony and a regular reader of your esteemed newspaper. I am writing this letter to highlight the issue of water security in India.
With the growth of the population and its ever increasing demand, increasing water scarcity has been experienced in several parts of the country. This has led to a strong need of water security for the growth and prosperity of the population. In order to solve the problem, lot of hard work has to be put in by all section of the society to conserve water.
In a country like India, it can be mind boggling to know that agriculture sector consumes 80% of available water while contributing only 15% to GDP. A large part of the agricultural area is provided water through private bore wells which produces a lot of stress on the declining water table. The declining water table has resulted in uneven distribution of available water to the farmers.
The need of the hour is a proper water security plan at the Grass root level of Gram Panchayat so that water can be managed properly. There should be search for experienced personnel having working expertise in water conservation. Their knowledge can be harnessed to build a pool of grass root workers with the technical expertise to address the water security problem.
I hope my letter finds a place in the columns of your newspaper
