Dear ABC,
I hope the letter finds you in the best of spirits and health. Your letter is just to hand and your enquiry about the Army Day celebration In India inspired me to write this letter to you.
15th of January is celebrated very year as the Army Day in India. The day is significant in Indian history. In the year 1949 on 15th January, the then lieutenant general, Kodandera M Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-chief of Indian Army. He took over the charge from the last British Commander-in-chief of Indian Army, General Sir Francis Butcher. Therefore, this day is celebrated as the Army Day in recognition of the achievement of Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa.
Significance of the day cannot be overstated as it marks a day when the whole country stands up and pays respect to the brave and valiant army men who sacrifice their life to protect their motherland. Though the day is celebrated throughout the country and in all army headquarters, the main Army day parade is held at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.
The brave and deserving soldiers are presented with bravery and gallantry awards on this day. Parades and military shows are conducted in honor of the Indian Army. On this day, the military might of the Indian army and its personal are in full display. Since, it is a theme based even, every year the flavor of the celebration changes according to the theme chosen. The theme for 2020 was “Digital transformation of Defense”.
I find the tributes to the Indian Army on this day truly deserving. This is the least that could be done to these valiant men who inspire each and everyone to love and protect their country. I would love to hear from you on this topic.
Yours lovingly,
