Dear ABC,
I know it has been quite a while since I last wrote to you. I hope you are fine. With the National Youth Day around the corner, I decided to write to you to shed some light on the significance of the day.
12th of January is celebrated throughout the country with great zeal and pomp as the National Youth Day. It is the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the great philosopher, visionary and social reformer of his era. Such was the charismatic nature of his character that he inspired millions of youth during his time and even now.
National Youth Day celebrates the contribution of Swami Vivekananda in nation building by awakening the youth. Youths are partners of today and leaders of tomorrow. In 1984, it was decided to celebrate his birth anniversary as National Youth Day keeping in mind the impact his way of life and ideals had on the youth. We can get a glimpse of the magnitude of his teachings in transforming lives through “The Complete Works of Vivekananda”.
Schools and colleges all over the country celebrate the day with much fanfare and energy. Functions, competitions and cultural programmes are organized which creates a vibrant atmosphere. Recently, the government has decided to celebrate the day with theme based events and the theme for the year 2020 was “Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building”.
Please write back when you get this letter. I always love to hear from you how everything is moving on in life. I am sure you would also have something to add to the discussion on the above subject.
Yours lovingly,
