Sub: Spreading garbage in and around locality

 Dear Sir,

                Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I, on behalf of my locality, would like to draw the attention of the local administration on the burning issue of spreading of garbage in and around our locality. The ever increasing garbage being dumped along roadside is creating very unhealthy and unhygienic conditions in our locality.

                            The non-biodegradable components of the garbage such as plastics and polythene bags are the major source of the problem. They get stuck in the drainage system causing it to block. The situation gets really hopeless during monsoon season with the continuous rain. All the wastes, alongside as well as inside the drainage system, overflow the road, creating a foul smelling unsanitary environment. This kind of environment is the breeding grounds of insects such as houseflies and pests like rodents which are serious agents of public health risks.

                                The problem would not have been this severe had the sanitary workers been sincere and punctual in doing their duty. I feel saddened to state that it has been more than two weeks that the sanitary workers had last cleaned the garbage bin. As a result, the people of the locality are forced to dump the daily wastes alongside the drainage system.

                            Hence, we the residents of Geeta Colony, East Delhi, kindly request the local authority to not only clean up the garbage in our locality but also make necessary arrangements so that timely and adequate sanitation is provided in the future too. I sincerely hope this letter finds a place in your newspaper. Our locality will be highly grateful to you for the same.
