I am a resident of ward no. 7, Niali town of
Cuttak district of Orissa since the last 20 years. I would like to take the
opportunity to bring the attention of the concerned authority to the pathetic
road conditions of our area through the columns of your esteemed newspaper.
The condition of
roads in our area is horrible to say the least. There are potholes along the
entire length and breadth of the road. In some places, there are even some huge
dug outs right in the middle of the road. These cause a lot of hardship in
communication for the local residents. There has been a steady rise in
accidents each year coinciding with the deteriorating road conditions.
Moreover, it also causes a loss of time and energy of the general people due to
avoidable traffic jam because of the bad road conditions. The matter becomes
even worse during monsoon season.
The PWD must be
held accountable for the deplorable road conditions. Stress must be given to
quality road construction and their timely maintenance which will also help in
reducing the road accidents. Hence, I kindly urge the authorities to look into
the matter seriously and urgently. A quick and effective response will go a
long way in making the life of general public a little bit easier.
