I hope you are hale and hearty. I was thrilled to receive your letter last Monday. It was very thoughtful of you to write after such a long time and I a wonderful time going through it. Last week, I had a wonderful opportunity to visit the famous Hawa Mahal of Jaipur and I am writing this letter to share my experience with you.

Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds in Jaipur is a grand symbol of the brilliant ingenuity of Rajput Architecture. It was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799. The beautiful structure is made up of colorful pink and red sandstone and is built in the shape of crown of Lord Krishna. We brought our ticket at the ‘Ananda Pol’ gate and entered though the ‘Chandra Pol’ gate.

The palace is situated in the middle of old Jaipur city, nearby the bustling streets. The five storied building has six special Mandir or temple, namely Sharad Mandir, Pratap Mandir, Ratan Mandir, Vichitra Mandir, Prakash Mandir and Hawa Mandir. A specialty of the place is the hundreds of small windows throughout the place. It is a great place to introduce someone to the history and culture of the Rajput kings. I walked through the huge rooms of the palace and just imagined the great lives the Royal family would have enjoyed.

My favorite place in the building has to be the rooftop. The bird eye view from the rooftop is a treat to the eye as you get to have a great sight of the vibrant city. The sunset view from the top was one for the memory books. Although it was a bit overcrowded for my liking, it was a memorable trip for me.
