Subject: Airport employees drunk on duty
Sir/Madam,
In the recently released data by aviation regulator DGCA, it has come to the notice that 84 people in 42 Indian airports failed alcohol test between January 2021 and March 2022. Out of those, 64% of the cases were drivers by profession. This is a matter of serious concern as it compromises the security of the public.
Employees must be responsible and discharge their duty being in total control of themselves. Coming to duty under the influence of duty is a gross neglect of duty. Policy of zero tolerance should be deployed on people who come to duty under the influence of alcohol.
Employees must be regularly briefed about not consuming alcoholic beverages during duty time. They must we made aptly clear about the penalties involved if the indulge in such an act. Habitual offenders must be strictly dealt with including steps such as suspension from duty or cancellation of license.
Yours Faithfully,
Anil
