Dear ABC,
I hope you are fine. It has been a while since I had last written to you. With the festival of Makar Sankranti round the corner, I decided to jolt down a few lines recalling some childhood memories of mine.
I remember Makar Sankranti being cheerfully welcomed by everyone as it was the first festival of the year. Being also the festival of harvest, my mother would make me lovely sweets made of jaggery and sesame. The sky would be splashed with a variety of kites of all sizes and shapes. What a majestic view that would create!
The sight of people on their terraces flying kites continues to fascinate me. The passion and competitiveness with which one would try to outmaneuver others could only be seen to believe. You would also sit in a group, listening to the live broadcast of kite flying on radio set by All India radio.
I really miss those golden days.
Your friend,
Atul,
