Dear brother,
I hope you are doing well in your hostel. I had wanted to share with you my views on an important topic. Today, I am writing this letter on why it is important to avoid the bad habit of overconfidence.
The simple reason for a person becoming overconfidence as that he tends to over assess his capabilities. Over confidence usually lead people into trouble that could be easily avoided otherwise. the invasion of Russia by an overconfident Napoleon in the winter of 1812 is a prime example.
Over confidence can be managed by being honest with yourself. When making a decision about important matter, it is better to take advice from other knowledgeable persons and then forming your opinion with an objective mind. In such a case, more often than not, you will stay out of misadventure.
On the other hand, modesty is a virtue which makes a person realistic. Before taking any decision, modest people assess the whole situation reasonably and then take the decision with honesty. Over confidence gets people at risk and in most cases they end up in the losing side.
I hope you will pay attention to the words of your elder brother and try to incorporate this principle of avoiding overconfidence, especially in your young age. Always having the best intention for you in my heart,
