Recently, the water level
in Yamuna was flowing above the danger mark causing a flood alert. Floods can
cause extensive damage to the normal life of a city or town. It can be quite
discomforting if you have a relative or friend living near the danger area. This
is a simple letter to a friend in Delhi expressing concern about Yamuna flood
alert. The article addresses the question of properly presenting the letter to
the concerned person. The letter may be modified according to the situation and
preference.

Concern regarding Yamuna flood alert
Dear ABC,
When I watched the morning news channel on
TV, I came to know about flood alert being raised in Delhi due to rising water
level in Yamuna. I was really worried hearing the news as the water level
continued to remain over danger mark of 204.83 meter and the persistence of the
incessant rains.
It is of some
comfort to know that your house is not exactly at the bank of Yamuna but still
it must be an awful feeling finding the Yamuna flowing over danger mark and
threatening to submerge, at least the low lying areas. This must surely take a
toll on the transportation in the area and daily life.
We also had to face a similar problem
from Brahmaputra last year with water crossing the danger mark at multiple
areas. Fortunately, no major flooding took place as the rains had stopped at the
nick of time, bringing some relief. But, none the less, it left a very bad
feeling.
I hope and pray that the situation over
there improves at the earliest. Please do write if we can be any help to you at
this time.
Yours
truly
