Mount Batur sunrise track and river rafting adventure in Bali
Dear ABC,
Hope this letter finds you in the best of
health and spirit. As you know, we have just reached home from our vacation at
Bali, I just cannot control my emotions to write to you about the whole
experience. Needless to say, I missed you a lot. Anyways, let me take you on an
adventure through my eyes.
Our trip to Mount Batur was the second day of
the tour. It was an early start as our driver picked us up from our hotel at
1:30 am from Denpasar and after a 2 hour drive, we reached at the base of the
Mount Batur. We managed to snick in some sleep during the drive though. We met
with our guide and other fellow travellers there and after some basic
information about the place; we were off for a 2 hour trek through the jungles
in the middle of the night!
The hike up was challenging but
the guide, who was a knowledgeable and funny person, made sure there were no
problems at all. The sunrise at Kintamani volcano on the top of Mount Batur was
surely a sight to cherish forever. The rising orange sun against the
spectacular background makes you forget all the hardship you had to endure to
reach there. The breakfast helped too!
After spending some quality time and
replenishing ourselves, we spent another one and half hours for the return
trek, which was comparatively easier downhill. We took to the bus and after
another hour, reached our destination at 10 am approximately for the second leg
of the adventure: river rafting. After learning some basic maneuvers and taking
all the gadgets like helmet, life jacket, water paddle etc, we set out in the
water with our instructor. It was a thrilling two hour experience to glide in
the water through the rainforest, past traditional bamboo bridges, shrines and
birds and animals to spot by the side! Must add, it felt a bit scary too. It was my first rafting experience and a
memorable one.
All in all, it was a thrilling affair.
Give my respect to your parents. Hope to write to you write to you soon for the
rest of the tour.
Yours faithfully,
